1. How long does it take to build a house? Though it depends on square footage and complexity of design, most homes in the 2000-3000 square foot range take 100-120 days to complete. 2. What are the benefits for me to build a showcase house? Benefits include: discounts from suppliers and contractors. Most suppliers and contractors that belong to BCHBA will give some sort of discount for the advertising they get during the show period. In most cases, the total discounts will range from 1%-2% of the total contract price. 3. I'm thinking of remodeling my kitchen, how long will we be under construction and without a kitchen? Remodeling a kitchen, depending on the amount of work needing to be done, will usually take 2-4 weeks. We will try to limit the actual length that you are completely without a kitchen to 10-14 days. 4. When building a new home, do you have house plans we can look at or do we have to come up with our own plans? Either way. If you have existing plans, we can work off them, we also have plans you can view. A great many of our projects we sit down and design ourselves. That way we can prepare for you a plan that will fit your needs and lifestyle. 5. Are you, the owners, ever at the job site watching what is going on? Yes, depending on the type of project, our "Coordinator" and/or "Job Supervisor" is on the job daily monitoring the progress. 6. If we are considering remodeling our present home or putting on an addition, do we need to coordinate the subcontractors for additional work? No, we are a complete professional remodeling contractor. We can coordinate all the work needing to be done. Most selections that you need to make can be done right at our Design Center. 7. Are all of your estimates free? We offer free estimates for anything that does not involve design work such as cabinets, trim work, siding and decorative painting. 8. So then what about New Homes, Additions, and Remodeling? We don't charge for an estimate that our customers currently have plans for. If it is a project that will require a Design/Plan, we will give the customer a projected cost on the project. To get an accurate cost, they would have to sign a Design/Build Agreement. 9. What is a Design/Build Agreement? A Design/Build Agreement is contracting us to design the specified project and supply the customer with a plan and cost. The fee deposit would go toward the project. If you decide not to proceed, the fee goes toward the design aspect of the project. 10. What type of cost would be involved? The cost would depend on the size of the project which can be determined by the projected cost. It usually runs between $300 - $1500.
